About Dr. Gidon - Dr. Gidon is a lecturer at the University of Toronto, where she teaches medical students and Dermatology residents. She is a Consultant Dermatologist at Womens College Hospital. She was amongst the first dermatologists in Canada to use Levulan PhotodynamicTherapy and to offer intense pulsed light treatments with the Lumenis 1™ for photorejuvenation.

What is Fraxel® Laser - Fraxel® Laser Treatment (FLT) is a new approach to treating aging and sun damaged skin. It offers patients the positive results of ablative skin resurfacing without the side effects of the old resurfacing lasers. It gives a more dramatic result than nonablative techniques. It only treats fractions of the skin at a time and rebuilds damaged skin like digital modification - pixel by pixel, spot by spot.

What does Fraxel® Treat - Fraxel Laser Treatment is designed to target aging and sun damaged skin by creating microscopic wounds within the targeted areas that penetrate well beneath the skin outermost layer. Fraxel® for Acne Scarring - Acne scarring is caused by the body’s inflammatory response to the plugged follicles. Cysts that occur deep in the skin can cause acne scarring, but sometimes, even mild acne can result in scarring. It takes time for acne treatment to work effectively, so it is important to be patient. Treatment of acne scarring depends on the patient’s skin type, the type of acne scarring, the time commitment involved and the cost of the treatments.

Fraxel® for Melasma - Melasma is a skin condition which consists of dark patches on the face, mainly on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and above the mouth, but also occurring on the neck, chest and forearms. Acne Scarring - Acne scarring is the result of the body natural reaction to injury. Acne is caused when sebum and bacteria collect in pores as a result of overactive sebaceous glands. Fraxel laser is the latest and most effective method of improving the appearance of acne scar damaged skin.

Wrinkle Treatments - Wrinkles are small fold or crease in the skin, usually produced by age or by excessive exposure to the elements. Fraxel™ is a laser that penetrates into the dermis to trigger the production of collagen and also improve the texture of skin and pigmentation as well as prevent formation of wrinkles.

Melasma Treatment with Fraxel® Laser - Melasma commonly occurs when estrogen stimulates pigmentation hormones and thus excess pigmentation is produced by the skin. In this way Melasma will cause dark brown or grey, irregular sized patches/spots on the face. Irregularly shaped spots are indeed very characteristic of Melasma.

Fraxel Procedure Toronto - Dr Gidon will suggest a treatment plan at your initial Fraxel consultation. Your Fraxel treatment plan will be made in part based on clinical studies indicating that generally an effective treatment regimen is 3 to 5 sessions, separated about 2 to 4 weeks apart.
